Welcome to coaching with Rebekah Tyler, The Coach in the Cupboard®.
This Coaching Contract explains the professional relationship between Rebekah Tyler, The Coach in the Cupboard® ("coach", "we" or "us") and the person purchasing or receiving coaching ("client" or "you").
It applies to individual coaching sessions regardless of the programme or package through which a session is booked.
1. The Nature and Purpose of Coaching
Coaching provides time and space to consider personal or professional goals, review challenges and aspirations, develop self-awareness and identify constructive ways forward.
Coaching is a collaborative process. The coach provides structure, questions, challenge and appropriate tools, rather than making decisions or providing all the answers.
The client determines the content of discussions and remains responsible for their own choices and actions.
2. Your Commitments as the Client
To help you get the most from our coaching relationship, you agree to:
- Approach sessions openly and engage in reflection, feedback and agreed actions as you judge appropriate.
- Attend agreed appointments and, where useful, arrive with a topic or aim to explore.
- Be honest about what is and is not working, and raise concerns or requests for adjustments promptly.
- Accept responsibility for decisions, actions and outcomes outside the coaching session.
- Respect the agreed working relationship, professional boundaries and appointment arrangements.
3. My Commitments as Your Coach
As your coach, I commit to:
- Be prepared and engage at agreed times, listening attentively and treating you with dignity, respect and empathy.
- Provide constructive challenge and encouragement in a non-judgemental way, adapting techniques to your needs where reasonably practicable.
- Help you identify your own insights and options, and review progress and agreed actions.
- Maintain appropriate professional boundaries, confidentiality and reflective practice, drawing on recognised coaching ethical principles.
- Work with reasonable care and skill and raise concerns when another type of support may be more appropriate.
4. Professional Boundaries
Coaching is not psychotherapy, counselling, medical treatment, diagnosis, legal advice or regulated financial advice.
The coach does not diagnose or treat medical or psychological conditions.
Where needs fall beyond coaching, the coach may recommend speaking with a suitably qualified professional or pause or discontinue coaching where reasonably necessary.
Coaching is a partnership that supports your thinking and personal development.
Coaching does not guarantee a particular outcome.
5. Confidentiality
Personal matters disclosed during individual coaching sessions will be treated as confidential.
We will not disclose identifiable coaching content to other people without your permission unless there is a lawful and justified reason, such as a legal requirement, the establishment or defence of legal rights, or a serious and proportionate safeguarding concern.
Where lawful, safe and practical, we will explain a proposed disclosure to you before it occurs.
The coach may discuss work anonymously or with information minimised in professional supervision to support safe and ethical practice.
Where a person could be identified, appropriate permission or another lawful basis will be required.
Confidentiality cannot be guaranteed for information you voluntarily share with participants in group or community environments.
6. Privacy and Coaching Records
We may keep limited booking details, communications and coaching notes when needed to deliver services responsibly.
Personal information is handled in accordance with Rebekah Tyler / The Coach in the Cupboard® Privacy Policy.
This explains how information is collected, stored, shared with authorised providers, retained and protected, and how you can exercise your rights.
Where separate explicit consent is required for special-category data, it will be sought independently.
7. Appointment Format and Communications
Individual coaching sessions last 55 minutes and normally take place remotely using Zoom or another agreed communication method, or face to face in an agreed location.
Both parties will take reasonable steps to choose a private, suitable environment and to minimise interruptions.
Either party should report significant connection problems promptly so that a practical solution can be agreed.
Sessions will not be audio- or video-recorded without prior notice, a lawful basis and any necessary agreement.
An email will be sent following each session outlining the main topics of discussion and the agreed actions. Contact outside sessions is limited to what is included in the service purchased or separately agreed.
Emergency or crisis support is not provided through coaching communications.
8. Payment, Cancellation and Rescheduling
All fees, advance-payment arrangements, cancellation notice periods, potential deductions, refunds and rescheduling rules are contained in the separate Rebekah Tyler / The Coach in the Cupboard® Payment, Cancellation and Rescheduling Terms.
Those terms form part of this Coaching Contract when supplied and accepted before booking.
The applicable version is the one made available and agreed when you booked, subject to your statutory rights.
No later amendment will retrospectively change an existing booking without agreement.
If coaching is included within an OAC membership or prepaid course, any clearly disclosed and applicable member- or course-specific provisions also apply.
If provisions conflict, statutory consumer rights always prevail and the interpretation most favourable to the consumer will apply where the law so requires.
9. Materials and Intellectual Property
Any worksheets, exercises, frameworks, templates or other materials supplied for coaching remain the intellectual property of their respective owners.
You may use materials provided by the coach for your personal learning and reflection.
You must not reproduce, distribute, resell or exploit these materials commercially without prior written permission, except where the law permits.
10. Reviewing or Ending the Relationship
You may raise concerns, seek adjustments or decide not to continue coaching.
The coach may also suggest an agreed ending or referral if the coaching relationship is no longer appropriate.
Ending a relationship does not remove any statutory cancellation or refund rights.
Any financial consequences are determined by the separately agreed payment terms and applicable law.
Feedback may be invited to help improve coaching practice.
Participation in feedback or testimonials is voluntary. Identifiable feedback will not be published without an appropriate lawful basis and, where necessary, permission.
11. Responsibility and Complaints
The coach will provide services with reasonable care and skill.
Neither party can exclude or restrict rights or liabilities where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or statutory consumer remedies.
If you have a concern, please raise it initially by emailing:
We will seek to resolve any concerns fairly.
12. Agreement and Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the law of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
By actively accepting this Coaching Contract before booking or beginning coaching, you confirm that you have had an opportunity to read it and agree to its terms.
Acceptance is demonstrated through scheduling and paying for a coaching session in place of a handwritten signature.
Your agreement
By accepting this contract through the booking or checkout process, you acknowledge the coaching relationship and responsibilities described above.
